Our seniors experienced what life was like in early America. This house was built in 1755 by a ship builder and has the largest fireplace of any private home in New England. This home is beautifully furnished with furniture and accessories from the period which are now antiques. A lively guided tour by Lin Scarduzio, a volunteer for Glastonbury Historical Society, brought smiles to all our seniors. Lin asked us if we noticed something different about the house while we were outside. If you look at the pictures notiice the color of the paint on the back of the house. Yes, that's what is different. It is painted red because red paint was cheaper back then and people couldn't see this side of the house from the road. White paint had to be purchased from England and was very expensive back then. Also notice how the playing cards on one of the tables are different than those we use today.
